Pharmacological Actions

 

• Astringent
• Partus preparator
• Uterine tonic

 

Indications

 

• Preparation for childbirth – to strengthen and tone womb (taken in last 3 months)
• Lactation – to increase milk flow
• Diarrhoea (especially in children)
• Stomatitis
• Painful periods, heavy periods
• Mouthwash – mouth ulcers, bleeding gums, inflammations
• Gargle – tonsillitis, sore throats, pharyngitis

 

Contraindications

 

• Use in 3rd trimester of pregnancy and only under the supervision of a healthcare provider
• Avoid in Oestrogen-sensitive conditions (e.g. cancer of breast / uterine / ovarian, endometriosis, or uterine fibroids)
• Take away from mineral supplementation

 

Dosage

• Adult – 10 drops (0.5ml) 3 times daily
